New MG Majestor SUV — Top 5 Must-Know Highlights

MG Majestor now available to pre-book with a deposit of 41,000, with sales expected to commence at the end of April

The MG Majestor is just a facelifted version of the MG Gloster, but it packs a long list of comprehensive upgrades to almost qualify as a new model. Here are the top five things you should know about the MG Majestor:

1. High performance

JSW MG Motor employs a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine in the Majestor. This engine produces 215.5 PS (213 hp) and 478.5 Nm of torque and comes linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The company plans to launch the Majestor in Sharp and Savvy trims and will offer an on-demand 4×4 system option in the latter.

2. Superb off-road capability

The MG Majestor offers superb off-road capability, being equipped with three differential locks: front, rear, and centre, ten terrain modes, and a crawl mode. Moreover, it possesses a best-in-class water wading depth of 810 mm. On paper, it looks designed to beat the Toyota Fortuner, which currently leads the segment.

3. Level 2 ADAS

JSW MG Motor offers the Majestor with a wide range of Majestor Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Change Assistant (LCA), and Lane Keep Assist (LKA). Heated outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), Driver Fatigue Warning System, a 360º high-definition camera system, and six airbags are also part of the vehicle’s safety suite.

4. Elevated comfort

The MG Majestor comes with front seats featuring an 8-point massage function and a ventilation function for elevated comfort. The driver’s seat also offers 12-way power adjustment and a memory function. The front passenger seat is 8-way electrically adjustable. A three-zone automatic climate control system further improves comfort.

5. Advanced tech

The MG Majestor features a number of premium technologies, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a column-mounted gear shifter that frees up space in the centre console, a dual wireless smartphone charger, and a 64-colour ambient lighting system. There’s also a 12-speaker JBL Studio sound system, aimed at audiophiles. The shortage of USB Type-C ports is worth highlighting here, though. The Majestor has only one USB Type-C port and three USB Type-A ports.
